Hi All!

First post on the forum. Wanted to upgrade cpu and cooler, mobo and ram. Not first time assembling a pc, but not a seasoned vet either.

Specs:

(New components)
Msi z270 gaming pro
I5 7600k
Corsair h100i v2
Gskill ripjaws 2133 2x4

(Reused components no prior issues)
Gtx 1050ti
650w psu
Crucial 128 gb ssd
Seagate 1tb hdd
Phanteks p400 case

Have it all assembled and I cannot get into bios. Wont display anything on boot, although the monitor does not say loss of signal, its just black. I have the vga led on on the motherboard. Also sometimes I have issues with the power button (doesnt turn on or off on the first click)

Things I have tried:

Removing gpu and booting onboard (does nothing, no leds)

Different ram placement and went down to 1 stick
(No luck, cause ram led for everything except second slot single stick)

Removing drives and booting to bios
(Didnt work)

Reseating cpu
(Didnt work)

Booting with one hard drive
(Didnt work)

My keyboard and mouse both light up and my monitors seem to realize they are being plugged into something, they just wont display anything.

I went through and verified all my wires were connected, and I had everything on the right pins (as per manual)

I am at a total loss and not only frustrated but genuinely sad. Any suggestions?

Edit: using passive adapters hdmi and dvid to vga could this be an issue? Seems unlikely

Edit: will not power peripherals with sata cables plugged in. Drives currently unplugged.

I tried connecting to a tv directly with hdmi. No difference in output, screen is still black and still indicating it is recieving input, just isnt displaying anything.

Also tried removing the gpu and connecting to the tv with onboard graphics. This results in no signal at all and the vga led still on. Starting to lean towards processor or mobo. Will remove processor and check for bent pins. Will take motherboard out of case and reinstall to check for shorts then repost results.

Ok so ripped the whole thing compeletly apart, put it back together and got it too post.

My guess one of two things - something wasnt put together properly (cpu seat, cord not fully pkugged in etc)

-found a tiny peice of what appeared to teflon wrapped around the north bridge cover that appeared to be touching a trace on the board

Anyway shes up and purring cheers all have a great day
