So I installed my ssd first and downloaded windows and all my stuff there. Now that thats over with, I plugged in my hdd from my old pc for an extra 1 tb of storage but it wont detect. I replugged the sata connectors and everything. Any ideas what might be wrong?

arn't you supposed to connect it into the motherboard??
one goes to powersuplly. one goes to mobo

Update: its showed up in my device manager list after i moved the sata connector to another slot. However, its not being used because i dont see it on this pc. I only see 460gb but thats from my ssd. I should have a terabyte from the hdd.

My ssd is a samsung 860 evo. it only uses sata cables.

ok i went to disk management instead. Disk 0 is my ssd which is working fine. I see a disk 1 but it says unknown. I assume thats my hdd. What should I do. I also get a pop up saying " You must initialize a disk before logical disk manager can access it."

still cant initialize the disk. i dont know why.

What is it saying when you try to initialize it?

it tells me to use the following partition style.gpt or mbr. When I choose mbr it says "incorrect function". When I choose gpt it says "the specified disk is not convertible because the size is less than the minimum requirement size required for GPT disks"

I wiped it on the old machine so I'm not losing any data. I just need it for Xtra storage on my new machine. I guess I'll just buy another. Maybe I'll just by another ssd and just have ssds in my rig. I don't want to spend money on a hdd that might not work.
