New build won't POST

Hi everyone,

I built my first build last night. Followed all the manuals, but when I turned the power on - it wouldn't POST. All the fans are spinning, RAM's LED indicators are flashing but there's no beep - just the silence.

I read that thread http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems and tried everything but nothing helps.

I did the breadboard and here's what I got:

1. MB with CPU & HSF installed and PSU power cables plugged in gives 3 long beeps - meaning that the memory is not installed. CPU and PSU fans are spinning alright.

2. once I click the RAM stick in place and turn the power on - everything's spinning too and RAM's LED indicator is on but there's NO BEEP. I tried all 4 RAM sockets, I tried both my RAM sticks - still nothing.

3. I tried to plug in GPU - its fan starts spinning but stops after 10 sec. And there's no beep too.

My thinking is that something's wrong with RAM but could both sticks be DOA? I doubt it. My next guess is MB is DOA but everything works fine before I plug the RAM stick in.

Can you guys please help me to figure it out?

FYI: I don't have a spare PSU or MB and unfortunately don't know anyone who owns a PC cause I just recently moved to the town.

Solution
Try to run the components with the bare minimum out of the case. Could be a bad grounding point making the pc malfunction i have seen that before.
It isn't necessarily going to beep if it is working properly.
GPU will only turn on fan when needed so it will spin it up while booting but then will not run it until it gets above a certain temperature, so what you are seeing is normal.

Can you get it to boot using the onboard graphics and just leave the GPU out for now?

I tried to, but it doesn't boot that way. Monitor shows No Signal sign.

Seems that no one can help me out with this. I'm just stuck and don't know what to do.
I think I'll be returning the MB for RMA, don't know what else I can do..

Go through the motherboard manual again and make sure your connections are all correct, like power switch, etc.
Make sure your jumpers are set correctly and none are missing.
If you are dealing with a bad board you really won't know until you get a replacement unfortunately.
