My name is Taupe, and I play WOW. Now that we've gotten that out of the way. I'm building a new computer, most parts are on their way, and I am a bit stumped on the video card. I am currently running a gtx 280 but hoping for something a little less power hungry and less heat producing for my new tower. The 750 TI looks reasonably priced, but knowing that WOW is a more CPU demanding game I'm not sure if that much card is needed. I've gotten some smoking deals on the other parts and am at $535 before the video card. I am hoping to run the game on ultra, I run two monitors at 1920x1080. Wow in windowed on one monitor with random internet and programs on the other. The rest of my build:

I5-4690k
Gigabyte MB
8GB G.Skill Sniper
550w Fatal1ty PS
Seidon 240M
Transcend SSD 370 (High sustained transfer rate)

Any wowheads out there have any advice about if that 750 TI will run wow on ultra settings, or if that much card is even needed?

Thanks in advance!

I'm an avid WoW player myself. I built my rig a few years ago and its got much less power than yours. My GPU is a 560ti and runs Ultra with a steady 60fps. I've had it on "High" for the longest time though and its a steady 100fps. I can't honestly say I notice any difference between the two settings, and I'm running a Samsung 27" LED monitor. On both settings the game looks bloody gorgeous (1920 x 1080), especially the current expansion content.

I'm probably going to upgrade the GPU so my system can hadle some of the larger raids a bit better but honestly its a rare occasion that fights with a lot of animations (I'm thinking Imperator's Rise in Highmaul here) cause any issues. If you do go with the 750ti you should have no worries about Ultra I would say.

Thanks for the reply. Why would the 280 run wow better? I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to. Most of the benchmarks I've seen put the 750 TI waaaaay above the 280.

Thanks for clearing that up bystander, I was thoroughly baffled. One of the comparisons I read actually said "The gtx 280 may have an impact on your yearly electric bills". Holy Cow!

It looks like the r7 265 is a rebadged 7850, only $10 more than the 750 ti, and has just under 20 more fps in WOW. Should I have any reservations on pulling the trigger on that one?
