Hello all, i just recently ordered all the parts needed for a new build.

Mobo - Gigabyte b660 gaming X AX rev 1.0
Cpu i-5 126000k
Gpu Asus 3060 ti OC mini
Ram G.Skill trident Z RGB (2 sticks of 8GB)
Msi MAG core liquid 240R v2 AIO
Antec Dark league DP502 Flux case
Corsair CX750m PSU.(reuse from old build, still works great)

Initially i could get the mobo, ram, and gpu running. The fans and rest of the RGB LEDs will not turn on, and now also only the mobo is recieving power(red light on mobo is the only thing that turns on).

My main question is should i RMA the mobo? The gpu and RAM both work in my other PC. Cannot test the CPU as my other Mobo is to old to support LGA1700.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

How old is the PSU in the proposed build that's being recycled? If you're going with a K suffix processor, you might want to consider a Z series board since the K suffix are capable of being overclocked. If you go for the B series, you're only going to be able to overclock the rams.

The gpu and RAM both work in my other PC.
That's where you mention the specs to your other system.

have you tried powering up with only barebones setup;
no disk, single stick of memory in slot A_2, no dedicated GPU?

i would second Lutfij's comment.
no point in having a 12600 'K' version if you're using it on a lower end B series board.
i would just return this B660 to the retailer purchased from and get a nicer Z690 to maximize the performance of this 12th gen.

Sorry, the other system has
Z370 sli plus mobo
triden Z rgb ram
I5 8600k cpu
Some type of Rosewill case and a rosewill 750 psu.

The PSU itself that i am using in the new build is a corsair cx750m v2(2017 model) however i purchased it new in 2020.

Also to add, we put the newer rosewill 750 psu from the other build onto the new build and that did not make a difference.

I think i mentioned once already however that the system WAS at least functioning, however after testing the wires in different SYS fan ports, the liquid cooling in seperate CPU fan ports(and opt ports) nothing was working after besides the mobo. Could it be the power switch/pled/hdd led/ ports stopped working? The wires are fairly loose in the fpanel.

Overclocking is a waste of time, these days. A good B660 board, and disabling power limits, is all you really need
i've let the auto-boosting features run with power limits disabled and input my own manual overclocking and performance settings on a couple different 12th gen builds now and the performance possible on a nicer Z690 is definitely still noticeably higher manually setting.
even more noticeable when overclocking an i5 with only 6 cores vs an i7 with 8.

while for basic uses a B series is fine you will not get the maximum potential of any higher series CPU while using one.
