Hey, Im going to do my first build soon and I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a decent processor and motherboard that are compatible. My budget is 400, and that doesnt include the case. I plan on using this computer for mostly gaming and recording what I play. Not super heavy usage but decent amount of play time.

Use the Tom's Hardware system builders marathon $500 rig. If you get rid of the case, cut down to 4GB of RAM, get rid of the DVD burner, and cut the 7850 down to a 7770, it'll fit into your $400 budget. That isn't a whole lot of power, but it's the most you can get for that price.

I would go with an I5 and Z77 motherboard.
