Hello. I'm kinda stuck on this and could use some help. I've just purchased new equipment to replace my old equipment (which lasted almost 15yrs). I bought the following 3 days ago:
Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 3 with Intel 370 Chipset
Intel Core i3 13-7300 4.0ghz
Viper Elite DDR4 2666mhz RAM (2x4gb) 1.4v
Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 750w PSU
HDD/CD and graphics card were taken from old system.
After putting everything together, the computer cycles on and off continuously. I double checked all connections and it still does it.
I did some checking online and was kinda steered to a possible bad power switch. I disconnected all the header wiring and everything but the mobo, PSU, CPU/cooler and RAM. I then shorted the power switch pins and got the same result. Figuring a PSU issue, I changed it out with a known, working 500w PSU. Same result. I then removed the RAM. Same issue. Added 1 stick of RAM. Same issue. Switched it with the other stick of RAM. Again, same issue. So, the power switch is ok, the new PSU appears ok. The computer either shuts completely off and then comes back on, or it will slightly power down and immediately power back up. In either case, I actually haven't gotten the computer to stay on long enough to get any information on the monitor.
This is my 6th build, but the first that has had this issue. Any suggestions would help!
Thanks!
Paul
EDIT: replaced CPU with correct one (thanks) i3 8100 today. Connected the CPU/PSU/ and 1 stick of RAM only. Mobo powers on (LED on mobo stays lit), however, the power does not stay on continuously. It looks/sounds like its revving on/off but does not completely power down. Board LED stays lit...any suggestions?
