New built PC freezing post windows logon

I have just recently built my pc, and have encountered a huge issue.

My specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700

Motherboard: ROG Strix B350-F

Cooler: Corsair H60

RAM: 2x 8gb 2400mhz Corsair Vengence lpx DDR4

GPU: ASUS GeForce dual GTX 1060 -O6G 6GB

Harddrives: 2x SSD 120g Kingston
1x 500gb HDD

Problem: after initially building the pc, I fresh installed windows 10 on my SSD which I recycled from my previous build and received an error when booting up. Installed it on my HDD and when I try to logon windows just completely freezes.

Thinking this was a hard drive issue, I went out and bought a new 120gb SSD and installed windows on that, left my other harddrives unplugged. It worked absolutely fine, I replugged the other drives and got to downloading steam etc.

After 5 hours, the game I was playing crashed, and then I got a blue screen that prompted a memory problem. After restarting, pc would freeze shortly after log on to windows or during logon screen.

I can enter BIOS and Diagnostics without crashing, just when attempting log on. I also freeze when logging on to safe mode.

I ran a memory diagnostic test, it appears that I had a “hardware problem”. I repeated this with each stick to find out which one. One stick was clean, one was coming up with fault.

I restarted the system with the good memory stick, still freeze. Replaced with other stick still freeze.

Unplugged all drives that didn’t have windows on and restarted with good stick, I managed to log on and run for a long time without freezing, but decided that I didn’t know exactly what the problem was, replugged other stick, restated and freeze, went back to the former setup where it ran, freeze this time.

Re-socketed CPU and cooler. Still freeze.

During this time I had been trying out all the different sockets of memory. 1,3 - 2,4 - 2 - 4 - 1 - 3

All same results.

I have concluded that it is not a CPU issue, as the whole system just wouldn’t work.

Not a GPU issue as it isn’t required for any of this

Not hard drive issue, as even with a new hard drive the issue still arises.

~ memory? Memory diag detects one stick as faulty but the story is the same with the clean stick.

~ motherboard? I do not know how to test for this, but surely I wouldn’t be able to access BIOS or even get to logon if it wasn’t working.

I have given all the information I can for what I have tried, I am out of ideas on why I freeze/crash after log on.

Before I replace my RAM or motherboard, maybe someone here might know. Much appreciated

Solution
Take a look at Reliability History and Event Viewer.

You should find some error codes and/or warnings that occured just before the freezes.

Google accordingly but be somewhat leery of the results. You will find several sites that will offer a solution no matter what the problem is.

Look for a consensus that is applicable to your system and configuration.
