New camera choices

Hi there,

I'm looking into purchasing my second digital camera. I've currently got
my eye on two different ones:

- Fuji FinePix S7000
- Olympus C-5060

I like the higher optical zoom on the Fuji, but having said that, the
flip-lcd on the olympus is also something that appeals to me. Are there
any major differences between the two in terms of image quality? Is the
flip-screen really all that useful, or is it just a gimmick that is
appealing to my geek side? 😛 And is there REALLY a huge difference
between 4x and 6x optical zoom?

Batteries: Are AA's really alright in a digi-cam? I know you can get cheap
rechargables and I know the proprietary ones are expensive, but are they a
lot better in the long run?

Any other points I should be thinking about? Thoughts? Any other cameras
you can recommend as being better than either of these?

My short list had those 2, and the Minolta A1. The A1 won.
The 7x zoom is nice, but the main thing is it's a true manual zoom.
The zoom and anti-shake made the difference for me.
Nice too, buttons and switches for most controls instead of menus.
The proprietary batteries last a long time, and with the vertical grip
AA batteries can be used, as well.
I guess the A2 would have all the same features, along with a better
viewfinder.
From your 2 choices, the sample shots I have seen from the Oly
seem better than the Fuji.
