New card for GA-890GPA-UD3H

Hello everyone. I have a GA-890GPA-UD3H with a radeon 5700 graphics card currently. My graphics are starting to suffer in my games therefor i'm looking to upgrade. I really don't know what to go with so any suggestions would help. Im would like to spend around $200. A little over that would be fine. Thanks for the help!

Dont know if you PSU is good enoug, thats why i made 2 build. tell me which PSU you have and i will tell you if its good enough if you dont know which one you have open PC and take a picture of a sticker on PSU and upload it here or just copy the manufacture and model name and write it here.

OK 750tx is enough for r9 280x, so you don tneed to buy PSU

I was looking at the card you suggested and I saw a r9 290. Do you think the extra $40 or so is worth it over the r9 280x?

If you can go over your budget yes its worth it is much faster, but i would wait for 2 days so AMD release new GPUs so price may fall and you will get it cheaper

Ok last question I have. I am currently running a Phenom 2 X4 955 cpu. Will this card work well with it or should I upgrade.

With that CPU you wont use R9 290 to the full potential, that CPU is not good anymore you can get much better CPUs for 60$

Well after looking, I cannot seem to find a processor for my board. My board, the GA-890GPA-UD3H, says it takes am3 and all i can find is am3+. Taking money out of the equation, would you replace both motherboard and cpu or find an ok cpu and continue using my current motherboard? Oh I forgot to mention it's a rev 2.1 motherboard.
