New card, new PSU?

Help me with my new rig,
i5 2400
gtx 960
8gb 2x mem
also adding another HDD
and here is the kicker PSU: cooler master eXtreme 500W. lol

I have been reading about those kinda PSU, and I dont want to take the risk with my new card and hdd. whats the best budget PSU out there? newegg calculator told me that I will be needing 650+++ watts? Is that absurd?
