New card, old cable!

Hi there,

I've just bought a Sapphire R9 280X graphics card. It has two 8-pin sockets for the CPU. However, my CPU has only one cable with a 6-pin lead. How do I connect this in the best way? Could a 6 pin PCIe to dual 8 pin PCIe cable work?
By the way, the power supply is 300W peak, but it's a Dell Core i7 PC. Will this affect anything at all?
Many thanks.

Thanks a lot for your quick responses - much appreciated!

So if I went for a new power supply, would 650W really be enough or would it be better to go for 750W right from the start? And any suggestions for a good unit - how about the CORSAIR RM750, for example?

Thanks again for all your help. I went with the EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850W (as it was only a bit more expensive than the 750W) and it's all hooked up and working brilliantly!
