Hello everyone!

I have some doubts regarding SLI and would like to know which option would be best for me at the moment, if you could please help me.

I currently own an EVGA GTX 660 SC 2GB GDDR5. This is my second one. I had a serious problem with the first one and EVGA gave me a new one last year. It's a 2GB GPU, but games are slowly requiring more powerful ones (duh) so I want to upgrade it.

Thing is I also have the option to buy an EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5, but as part of the payment I'll have to give my 660.

I want your help please: should I buy another 660 and SLI the whole thing? I'll probably need a new case but it's a cheaper option overall. Or should I go for the 970 right now? The seller is waiting btw hahahahaha.

I don't know how much can SLI beat a new card. I have no experience with it.

Thanks!

Get rid of the 660 and take the 970. Not worth the SLI for 660 IMO especially with only 2 gigs of Vid ram. The 970 would still beat the 660's in sli.

You should definitely go for the 970. Not all games take advantage of sli.

Essentially 660 sli is about as powerful as a 780 i think, which is about the same level by performance as a 970 but newer tech that will improve with drivers and consumes less power.

So 970 is a better choice imo.

Thanks but wouldn't I kind of get 4GB when they perform together?

No, they don't stack unfortunately.
