New card, what to choose?

Hey people. Well i got alot of problems with my Sapphire Vapor-x 7970 ghz edition, after already RMA'ing it once.
Im gonna RMA it under the warranty, and buy a new.

Im thinking about a GTX 680 or a Matrix 7970.

I really just want to get alot of power and nice and smooth performance.

Any thoughts on this?

The matrix 7970 is apparently discontinued, but asus has other 7970s, such as the direct cu II, but that's a 3 slot card, so make sure that's ok.

It is, but would you recommend a AMD card instead of an Nvidia. Im a bit of an AMD fanboy, but i wanna try to out Nvidia, and the GTX680 Should give more FPS in pretty much every game.

Why not get a EVGA GTX670 FTW which is factory optimized to perform as GTX680 ? This saves you some money aswell. Im using one and its a nice card to game with @ 1080p

Actually the 7970 performs better than the 680 in most cases.
