Hello,

Yesterday for the first time I experienced difficulties with my pc. When I would go to start-up my pc nothing would go (except my ram sticks would light up) other than that nothing. It would take about 10-20 times before it would start and when it did, it would run completely normal.

Today, the same problem was happening so I figured it was my PSU, so I went out and bought a new one (Corsair RM850) as well as a new case. Well…..I just transferred everything and nothing will boot. No lights, no sound, nothing. I replaced como battery, used the cables it came with, checked wiring, re-positioned ram. I also took out the new PSU and tried booting it with the old one and nothing.

What is going on?? My motherboard is MSI B450 Pro and about 2 years old, do I need a new one? Everything was working normal before it started acting up yesterday.

I will try later and get back to you. What are your thoughts? What if nothing happens still when I re build it outside of the case? What would it mean?

take the system out of the new case and build it on a flat non-conductive surface in a bread-boarded setup.
*UPDATE*

I just set it up outside of the case, and once i do the screwdriver test, a clicking noise happens from my PSU and a red light blinks from my GPU. Is it my motherboard?

a clicking noise happens from my PSU
this is a bad sign usually related to a malfunctioning power supply.
a red light blinks from my GPU
likely an indication that it is affected by the malfunctioning power supply.

i would first try another different PSU.
if there's still a similar problem it could be that the GPU was damaged by the previous PSU.

without a replacement PSU & GPU to test it could be difficult to troubleshoot an answer at home.
in this situation i would probably take the system to a local repair shop and have the entire system diagnosed.

ouf! this sounds expensive lol

I just did the paper clip test to my PSU and it’s working fine, the fans spin. I’m thinking of ordering a new Motherboard.. not sure else. Hoping it’s not my GPU

I identified the clicking noise when I initially set up the whole system outside of the new case. When I used the screwdriver, the only signs of life were the clicking noise that came from the PSU (no fans spinning) and the GPU that had the red light blink. For the fast red light that blinks from my GPU, it has always done that whenever I turn on my pc since I have installed it 2 years ago, so the red light was nothing out of the ordinary.

When I did the paper clip test this morning, there was no clicking noise, and the fans spun.

*motherboard is about 4-5 years old, and has been running in my pc for almost 3 years*
