New case or Motherboard

Right now I'm running a Crosshair V Formula Z motherboard and 2x Sapphire Vapor X r9 290 X, one cards dimensions are 12.0" x 4.5". My current case is a NZXT Phantom 630. Right now there's definetley not room for 4 cards and probably not even 3 so I'm wondering if I need a new case or motherboard.

It would be a wasted upgrade as you won't see any performance gains past 2 graphics cards. If you want to increase performance you'd do better to switch to an Intel processor, as your AMD CPU will be bottlenecking your two-card setup.
