So as the title states, I just got a new Cat6 Ethernet cable for my PC to replace my wireless network adaptor I have been using. My PC is on the second floor of my house and the router is on the first floor so I had to buy a 50 foot cable. After routing the cable under carpet and finally reaching the router I go to plug it in to the back and no led lights show up on the back of the router where the cable is connected. Sure enough, I go upstairs and look at my network connection and I am not connected to the internet on my PC. There is another PC connected via Cat5 to the same router which is the family PC and a orange led light is on next to the connection. So I unplugged the Cat5 connection from the ethernet 1 port and tried connecting the new Cat6 into that port and still no led was showing. Surely I can't have a faulty cable as I bought it from a seller that has sold over 5,000 items and has a nearly 100% feedback rating in ebay. Is there anything I am missing? Maybe a driver update or bios setting change of some sort? I will admit I have never used an ethernet connection so I thought it was just a plug and play type of thing. Am I missing something? Please help! Thanks in advance.

You really should always check cable in the same room with the switch and pc before you run it in hard to redo areas.

There is slim chance you damaged the cable when you ran it.

Most better cable manufactures test every cable but some still slip though.

Ebay is not the best place to be buying cables but then neither is amazon. Both sell copper clad aluminum which is not certified cable and has issue at longer distance and the ends do not terminate correctly. Actual cat5/6 the wire should say tia-eia on it to show it is certified but there has been a bunch of fake cable that is CCA but say tia/eia which it can not be.

You don't have a lot of options. Pull the cable out and see if you maybe damged it. You could try to...
Faulty cable is rare but not impossible. The sure way to find out is, move this PC to the family PC location and use its CAT5, then you know 100% what the problem is.

They sending you a crossover cable is a possibility but just about anything today is auto MDI-X so unless you have an ancient, more than 5 years old, router.

You could try to replace the ends but you need a tool and more important it takes a lot of practice to get the ends on correctly. Likely your better option is to buy another cable and test it before you install it so you can return it if it does not work.
