New charger/adaptor affecting FPS

Ever since my original laptop charger spoiled, it used to have a stable fps around 200, however now i bought an adaptor to charge my laptop, the fps is very unstable it can go from 200 to 20 up and down during a game. Any one is able to help?

Is the replacement a genuine HP charger? Is the replacement the same or higher wattage than the original?

Sizzling , it’s not a genuine HP charger, it’s a universal adapter ,however it does say that it has the same wattage as the original

But what output voltage is it set at? Is that the same as the original?

Phillip , I have seen both the chargers , they both have the same output voltage written on it , however the new adaptor I’m using is much lighter , cheaper and it’s from China

Well even some of the official laptop chargers (HP, Packard Bell, Acer etc) are made in China (but usually higher quality than the cheaper third-party ones).

Only way to find out if that's got anything to do with the problem is to buy a genuine OEM replacement from HP.

I certainly couldn't put hand on heart at this stage and say that cheap charger has nothing to do with it (especially bearing in mind I'm not a gamer anyway).
