Is this a good build for gaming? I want it to run Battlefield 4 and DayZ on Ultra or High. Any suggestions would be helpfful.

Hello

I currently own an AMD FX-6300 with a 2GB 7850 and I am running BF4 on ultra although that is at 1440 x 900. The GTX 760 is a lot better than my 7850 so I imagine you will meet your expectations. What resolution will you be running at?

Here are some benchmarks to back me up.

Hope I helped, can I ask what your budget is?

My monitor is an old dell with a VGA that runs at 1280 x 1024. My budget is around 700 with all the parts so total it will be 800 with windows 7. Everything above adds up to 726 which is a little over but not much.

At that res you will likely max out most games. I do agree with SR-71 about the motherboard as I was told not to go with a low end MSI board and choose an Asus M5A97 R2.0 instead which is exactly what I did, I was recommended the XFX Core 550w and has turned out to be an excellent unit I (Recommended by SR-71) that would be quite enough for your build.

You may also want to wait a little bit before getting the 760 as AMD is releasing Mantle in January for Battleield 4 which may give AMD cards a huge boost but then again it may not. I'm thinking of the R9 270x as it is in a similar price range as the 760.

As an AMD GPU owner I am hoping Mantle is what it's been hyped up to be!

I agree with those comments and will upgrade the motherboard to the Asus. Are there any other cheaper power supply options? Also what brand is good if i would buy an amd r9 270x? Would the 270 give the same performance?

The R9 270x is essentially and overclocked 270x so I would go for the R9 270 and overclock it as it has been seen to have more overclocking potential that the 270x! As for the brand any would do, make sure you get 2gb of GDDR5. (MSI, Asus, Sapphire etc)

Check out these videos to have a look for yourself to see performance and decide whether this is enough for you.

And for the power supply I honestly can't give you a recommendation as i don't know too much about them and what is good, your best googling for the "best power supply for $70" or whatever price you have in mind.
