New computer build crashes randomly.

I picked parts out for a computer for a friend. Everything looked compatible, but he says his computer, running windows 7 ultimate x64, crashes randomly. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mzBXVn These are the parts we chose. (He ended up buying a different case and mouse + keyboard combo)

I would think it is software problem instead of hardware, but I am unsure at this point in time since he lives 2 hours away from me.

EDIT: I forgot to mention he is now using a DUAL-X Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 GPU instead.

PC crashes are usually because of CPU overheating.

Download HWInfo and run Sensors. Post the results - usually 3 screenshots in TinyPic or similar. It'll show temps, voltages, clocks etc.

try running a diagnostic with memtest to see if ram is the issue

also check the bios file on the mb see if it old.

Try just Sensors - not everything.

mb has the newest bios file.

Make sure you are running the latest bios. Also, download and run BlueScreenView and post a copy of the dump file.

PC crashes are usually because of CPU overheating.

BSOD's are also a cause for said crashes. There is an entire checklist to go by but in order to make everyone's life easier, OP, you can follow teknic111's advice or download whocrashed and you shall see the error reports.
