Hey, I wish to build a computer around the upcoming 3000 gpu series and could use some advice as having watched an x-number of youtube videos on the various subjects of hardware stacking has melted my brain a bit.

My pricelimit would be around 2000 USD but could push a bit further if necessary.

The PC will primarily be used for gaming and recording gameplay with shadowplay and some editing in video vegas, so nothing too serious. Like 95% gaming, 5% editing.
However I do run a 3 monitor setup with 2x 1080 monitors and 1x 1440 g-sync monitor.
-With my 3 monitors I typically have google chrome open with x number of tabs on my left screen, games on the middle screen and discord on my right screen.
I also use 4 harddrive slots, 1 SSD for windows and high-demand software, 1 for recordings, 1 for videos and 1 for games.

I have not been overclocking in the past but have recently realized this is something I want to learn so the system should preferably allow for this aswell.

So my current understanding says that for a 3080 gpu build with the mentioned above, a good coupling with longevity in mind would be the next-gen intel cpu.

I've seen a lot of debate with the whole AMD vs Intel situation, but if I understand it correctly then for my usage the intel comet lake would be best.. please do correct me if Im wrong tho.
With motherboards Im somewhat uncertain tho, from what I understand I would need something from the intel 400 series chipsets to fit the comet lake cpu but aside from that this is also where my brain started melting so yea..

Any suggestions on the motherboard, and what kind of power supply would you recommend with all of this? Any general opinions on my idèa for this aswell would be very welcomed :)

Solution
If the 3000 series gpu’s do take advantage of PCIe 4.0 then AMD on a B550 or x570 Would be the best choice.

we will have to wait and see.
