Just built a new PC. Windows is not active YET! after about a hour and 10 min after it turns on the computer screens. sometimes happens during playing video game or after closing the game. some times after i pauses Netflicks. Both screen freeze and the the fan in the case all slow down. the DVD drive still opens and closes. The hottest thing in the case is the GeForce 970 get 45C.

I have checked RAM for right voltage it is set 1.5. checked Air flow. looked at BOIS but not totally sure what i am looking at but most things are set to AUTO. When it is frozen, holding the power button down will turn it off. and the Resets button resets the PC.

UPDATE: the CPU is running SUPER high and dumb things like program called "IMVU" 3d chatting client. for an 8 core system feel like THIS.

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
8 BG Kingston Fury 2x (16gb total)
GeForce GTX 970
AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core
EVG 1000w power
Corsair H100i water cooler
128 GB SSD
500 GB HDD

Settings say 1.5 would raising it up by .05 do something?? wouldn't that be a bad thing to over juice it?

i changed the voltage to 1.55 and it seemed to work much longer. i thought it was fixed. it stayed on for maybe 7 hours before it froze up again and this time i got a blue screen telling me windows shut down.

done and done. but this time it froze up and crashed about 45min after the changed. no blue screen. i JUST restarted and am letting it run again.

again this does not happen after heavy CPU usage. i was just on about 6 tabs on Google Chrome.

Reset memory and cpu voltage and speeds to stock. Download a bootable diagnostic. Run the memory test overnight. Is the system stable? If yes then rebuild your windows install paying close attention to chipset drivers, video drivers.

If the memory test fails then swap out dimms one at a time until you find the dimm that is trouble.

You should not need to push voltage at stock clock on new parts to be stable. Most likely you have a SW bug or one of the new pieces of hardware (most likely dimm, but could be MB, video. very rare its CPU) had an early life failure.

i run two sticks of RAM and i unplugged each one and tested the computer to see if either was an issue and both of them work fine. i now have Windows 7 64-bit running and updated MOBO and BOIS. computer now stays on for about 5-7 hours before crashing.

i also installed another computer fan 140mm. but my temps are staying below 48C so i think i am fine there. the voltage is still bumpped like suggested
