New computer chair! How do I choose?!

My computer chair is extremely old now, the padding does not even do anything, I feel the board under my arse and is not pleasant, I think it is time I buy a new computer chair.

I do not know what to look for in a computer chair, so here I am asking for advice, what do you guys look for in your long-term computer chair purchase?

I could go to a store and sit in them and pick the best one, but how do I know which store offer the best quality chairs?, I do not have time to go to multiple stores (I think online purchase is cheaper as well)

go to a local office supply store such as staples, officemax or other.

look at the prices and sit in chairs within your budget. pick out a few that you think are comfortable.

look at the quality, go for metal parts (preferably) or very ruggedly built (thick) plastic ones.

give the chair a shake, shake the arms too... are they loose fitting? the chair should feel solid.

chairs with alot of soft foam padding will go flat after 6 months to a year. chairs with firm padding might stay that way for longer. chairs made out of mesh shouldnt change at all.

look at the materials. mesh and rugged fabric will wear the best. leather wears okay unless you have cats or other animals. suede and the fabric on cheap chairs wears the worst.

as far as purchasing online, remember that shipping is going to be substantial (i'd gander at least $10-15 or more) so you might be able to make out better in a store.
