New computer help

Hi there, a friend of mine is building his first desktop for the upcoming game Skyrim, and i'm just stuck on a few components since I don't have enough time myself to keep up with all the new gizmo's

So far we're getting a:

CPU: 2500K, planning to OC to atleast 4.5Ghz
GPU: GTX 550, possibly the OC version
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-10666CL7D-8GBXH (2x4GB) DDR3 - although ive heard these have compatibility issues with some mobo's?
PSU: Antec TruePower 750W
Heatsink: Coolermaster 212+, with two fans
HDD: WD Black 1TB

Now only thing left is the Mobo... I've personally got a P8P67 Pro... but can't find that on the market anymore (maybe it's just my store?) but, ive had issues with mine with random restarts, randomly turning on and off etc.

I wasn't planning on getting a Z68 motherboard, because (I could be wrong) the only real difference is that the Z68's have integrated graphics and would be useless when having a GTX 550... am I right on this?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Z68 does not have integrated graphics. The cpu has integrated graphics that you can use on Z68, but not with P67. It's great for backup video if you have a graphics card failure.

I like Asrock z68.

The GTX550 is pretty weak, not a good match for the cpu. Even if you had 3 GTX550, there would be absolutely no reason to overclock the cpu at all, other than to waste electricity, create more heat and lessen the life of your components.

A 750w psu would be overkill for even 3 of those video cards.

If you fill out the new build form in the new build section you would get more accurate help based on your needs and budget.

If you plan to OC get z68 motherboard. Best for everything.

An antec 750watts is overkill! Get the 600 to 650watts.

Get an ATI card if you want to save money. the 6790 or 6850 would be a better choice and more power than the 550 if you want to save money. Skyrim isn't going to be that intensive anyway.

It's a bit late to do the form thing now >.< But price isn't a huge issue, mainly best bang for the buck.

So I've two +1's for Asrock? how good are they? I heard they use to be pretty dodgy a while back... have they turned a new leaf?

and we will only be using 1 graphics card, is there a board with only one PCIE slot that you could recommend?

Any comments on any other components I have chosen?

Don't worry about the asrock, it's pretty reliable now.

I think it's normal for boards having more than one PCIE slot nowaydays.

You'd get the best bang for the buck if you go for a Radeon GPU but it's up to you. If you really want a good gpu get the 6850 or 560ti.

I love the Asrock boards. They have everything the Asus boards have except they have less warranty, but you pay for that extra year with the Asus.

The Samsung F3 is a decent drive, but the warranty isn't nearly as good as the WD Black, but again, you pay more for it.
And Samsung hasn't been making hdd's long enough to know if they are reliable. WD has been making hdd's for decades.
