New Computer Limited To 4 GIG Of Ram

Hi guys just bought this new Dell computer before I bought it I thought I asked all the appropriate questions and I did in fact ask the maximum amount of memory supported and was told 8 gig. Well after getting it home I discover that it only supports 4, I ran into this problem with my current Gateway when I bought it 6 years ago it was only upgradable to 1 gig running under XP so I said I would never again buy a machine that doesn't support the maximum amount of memory. So what do you think take it back the price was decent and I got that push technology with the Intel adapter thrown in. See below for a link to the machine and I found another article on how much memory is adequate for windows 7. Really sad about this because I've already started to bound with this machine, just don't understand what they were thinking when they used a motherboard with a max of 4 gig of ram.

Not sure if there is a question or what in this, but 4 gig of RAM is plenty for anything except maybe pro autocad or movie studio work. And even then more than 4 gig is not unusable.

With the video card in the system you did not buy it for games, so 4 gig is plenty.

Yes 4gb is plenty for pretty much anything running these days, to get a laptop with more than that your going to be paying more, and according to the reviews on the page you linked for the product they say it maxes out 4gb.

so the question here is what will you be using this laptop for? alot of CaD-autocad multitasking sort of stuff? gaming? general internet use? it should run most games and other regular software just fine for the next few years

Well I called Dell about this and they said that this computer actually supports 8 gig of ram they said there was a mistake in the specifications so I guess the question is mute now. I did find an article that said that 8 was superior to the 4 for running Windows 7 please see below, looking forward to you sharing your opinion.

Well, in theory 8 is better than 4 if you don't care about the cost. But, also read what the guy in the article is running when he added 8, he has like 10+ programs open at once. If you only use a few at a time, no need for over 4. But up to you, if you have the money to spend, go for 8, won't hurt.
