Question New Computer, need help.

So I just purchased an iBuyPower prebuild with an i5-8400 cpu @ 2.8GHz, 8 GB or RAM, and a Nvidia geforce GTX 1060, it also comes with Intel UHD Graphics 630. I can hardly run games I used to play on an older PC and don't understand the issue I'm having. Please help in any advice or steps needed so I can run my PC the way it should run, thank you.

is your hdmi/displayport connected to your motherboard or graphics card? it should be connected to your graphics card
