New computer recognises old hardrive in Intel BIOS but doesn't come up in Disk Management

Hi there,

First post! Hi!

Just bought myself a new computer, I'm wanting to transfer my old media to my new one BUT, the BIOS recognises the hard drive (on intel BIOS i can't work out whether or not that SATA port is enabled or not) and it isn't coming up on Disk Management, therefore, i'm unable to access the data.

Can anyone help?

Can you see if the motherboard BIOS is pending any updates? You might also want to try and change the data and power cables for your old HDD and see if that changes your experience. How old is this HDD that you speak of?

Please list full specs of your pc and
post screenshots from:

• BIOS section (showing your HDD) and
  Disk Management.

Hi, I will revert back later on this evening and let you know if the BIOS is pending any updates! the power cable worked in my old tower unit and I would presume would work in the new unit? Also the power cable was working with the disc reader before I unplugged it and put it into the old hard drive.

The old hard drive is a good 6 years old!

Sorry for the super noob questions and answers.

What did you mean by power cable?
Is your power supply modular and you're using old psu cables in your new computer with new psu?
