New computer with ssd but can't see old hd

Hi iv build my first computer and I want to use the old hard drive this had windows 7 and all my other stuff on it before but I can't find it on my computer with 8.1 on it and iv pluged it in and it is spinning up I think but can't see it on the manage devices Under storage could someone help please

Does it show up in BIOS with its correct model number and full capacity?

If not, try disconnecting the SSD and detecting the HDD on its own.

It's shows the model number but not the size and that was with the ssd disconnect but I think with the ssd connected it shows as well

Does your BIOS show the size of the SSD?

Can you see the HDD's files/folders if you boot from a Ubuntu Live CD?

Do you have an external enclosure that you could use to test your HDD?

Ye it does and what a Ubuntu live cd? No enclosure for it

You don't appear to be certain whether your drive is spinning. Sometimes a drive will Power Up In Standby (PUIS), in which case it may be detected by BIOS with zero capacity. Booting your machine from a Ubuntu Live CD will spin up the drive and give you access to your data.
