New Computer's Wifi very slow

I built my own computer not too long ago. The internet speed on it was fine, I got 15mbps dl's frequently. Now the wifi speed has really slowed down. I'm lucky to get 500KB/s on a steam download. My laptop gets the full 15mbps on speedtest, but my computer gets 2mbps. Signal is strong, steam was the only thing using internet aswell. What could be the cause of this?

Initial thought is drivers. Is the computer connected through wifi or ethernet?

if the mb has intel chipset for the ethernet port. on some of there drivers it a known issue that they slow down some rigs. the fix is to go into add/remove programs and remove the intel network extra software. then reboot. also check for newer wifi drivers for your device.

It is connected through wifi. Drivers are updated. Wifi drivers fully updated. No Intel network software installed.

A CMD ping shows the same results I've always been getting. It's just the speed that's slow

check for malware/virus boot into safe mode if the speed is back then use msconfig go into the start up tab and turn stuff off one at a time till the speed is back.

No malware/virus. Completely fresh windows install. Only Skype and a mouse driver open on start up.

make sure the newest intel chipset or amd drivers are installed and the newest usb drivers are installed. some mb use 3 party usb chipsets.

Where would I find said usb drivers? Running a Z97 MSI PC MATE
EDIT: Went through device manager and stuff, reinstalled usb and network drivers, but to no avail.
