Hi there,

After 5 years of use I would like to renew the cooling gear of my HTPC system.
This is what I currently have:
1 - BIG Shuriken 2 Rev. B
2 - 2 Silverstone 120mm fans - http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=348

HTPC is in a closed drawer so I need great cooling gear.
The case is Silverstone ML03B.

I would like get 2 quiet 120mm fans with USB connector and with great airflow as they pull out the hot air inside the cabinet.
The 120mm I currently have are noisy, I can hear them from a 4m distance.

What gear would you recommend me buying?
Should I get new shuriken? or new cooler that has better air flow? I would like to use the same frame as I currently have and don't want to install new frame.

Thanks in advance!

Since Silverstone fans have sleeve bearing, they get noisier as they age.

For quieter fan, i'd go with fluid dynamic bearing fan, e.g Arctic F12 PWM,

F12 PWM outperforms Silverstone fans in many areas. It has higher air flow (74CFM vs 58.47CFM), more RPMs (1350 RPM vs 1200 RPM) while being quieter (22.5 dB(A) vs 25.15 dB(A)). Oh, F12 PWM is also 4-pin fan and you can run them in PWM mode if you like.

I just purchased 2 of those: Noctua NF-S12A
They must perform better, i also purchased the coolmaster GeminII m4 for the cpu.

Noctua fans are one of the best ones out there. Though, that can't be said about the looks of the fans. Oh, they will perform better than your Silverstone fans and they even outperform my suggested Arctic F12 PWM fans. (Can't beat the king.😛)

As far as your Cooler Master goes, that i'm unsure with if it does perform better than your old cooler or not. If it doesn't perform better then before trying out another CPU cooler, read the "Best Slim Air CPU Coolers" section from here,

The fan of the cpu cooler has stopped working so it's about the time for new one.
Will post temp results once i have this new setup rolling
