Ok, so I've decided to start a new build and have all of my parts either here already or on the way. I plan to do lots of pictures and to post videos on youtube as well. First things first, here's a list of my parts:
Motherboard - Asus P67 Sabertooth B3
This mobo has all the features I'm interested in and wraps it all up in a package that is aesthetically pleasing to me. It has two PCI-E slots for SLI and the awesome UEFI bios. I have also installed the 50mm assistant fan to help with cooling.
CPU - Intel Core i7 2600k
Simply the best processor on the market for the money these days. Able to hang with a 980X but costing 3x less. I probably won't need the extra threads over the 2500k but I really just want the i7! Lol.
CPU Cooling - Corsair H60
I currently have a Hyper 212+ and it performs well enough but I need a little more cooling to get to 4.8GHz so I'm giving the H60 a try. I have two Gelid PWM fans that I intend to use in p/p. I would have gone with a larger air-cooler but my RAM will not fit under most of the good ones so we will see how the Corsair performs.
Case - Corsair 600t SE (White)
The impetus of this build to be honest. I currently have a CM690II Advanced and it is a fantastic case but I fell in love with this Corsair the moment I saw it and had to have it. I intend to do some light mods to it and will have a certain color-scheme on the inside when finished. I can't wait to get started!
Memory - Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 8-8-8-24
This RAM is perfect for SB. Its 1.5v and has relatively tight timings plus it really will fit the look I'm going for with the Sabertooth mobo. I will be running at 1600MHz.
Power Supply - Corsair AX850
This fully modular PSU is all over the place these days. If you have a new SLI or CF setup chances are you have this PSU (or so it seems)! The thing looks great and performs even better (JG recommended). Plus, what other PSU could I really go with for my Corsair build (my current HX750 would have worked but I am selling it with my old case as a combo)?
Video Card - (2)MSI GTX 580 Lightning SLI
The crown jewels of my new build. Way overkill for my current monitor I know but I intend to try an Nvidia surround setup later and these babies will suit my benchmarking needs in the meantime. I love everything about these cards from their look to their OC potential. I was tempted to get the Extreme Edition but the money was just too far out there.
SSD - Intel 320 160GB
I had to go Intel with the SSD. I want reliability over pure speed and the 320 series will be plenty fast enough IMO. Also wanted at least 150GB for my OS and all programs and games so this ended up being a good deal for me.
HDD - Hitachi Deskstar 1TB 7200rpm
I'm using my current data drive in my new build. It has performed flawlessly for me so far and there's no reason to change it.
Optical Drive - Samsung Blu Ray Drive
I watch Blu Rays on my computer so this was an easy choice.
I am still waiting on the second GTX 580 Lightning but it looks like I'll have everything by this Friday. Now for some pics!
