Hi everyone i'm current looking for a new CPU for my computer but I've had some trouble finding one that would be compatible. I currently use an AMD A8-6600K that came with the PC. i would like one that would be able to play current video games on average setting as i do not really care how good the game looks as long as it runs smooth. I do not need to upgrade my video card or RAM as i have done so recently. is there a good CPU for my PC or is my motherboard simply too old now (got it around 2013-2014) thank you all for your help in advance

We'd benefit fro knowing your full system's specs especially since dropping in ram that is rated at above 1866MHz can help with the iGPU on the APU to churn out better frames.

The highest APU you can drop in is the A10-6800K but overclocking on it will be severely limited due to the lack of heatsinks on the VRM/power delivery area.

You could go for an Athlon X4 760

Make sure you're on the latest BIOS revision.
