Hey ,
I currently run my pc with a i5 7400 and an Gtx 1050 ti and 2x8gb crucial ballistix Sport 3200mhz
Mainboard is the msi z270 Gaming pro Carbon
So I wanted to upgrade my cpu to an i5 8600k but it’s not compatible with my mainboard or is it ?
If not I thought at an i5 6600k.
The point is I don’t want to upgrade my mainboard but I guess I have to or ?
My point is I want to get better cpu and with that better performance in Cs Go by investing 200€
Absolut maximum would be around 300€

Should I buy the older i5 6600k or should I buy new mainbaord and cpu ?

And what about buying an used i5 6600k or even a i5 8600k from Ebay ? Is buying used cpu save ?

Pc is only used for Cs Go
Keep that in mind

Thanks for your suggestions in beyond

But for my needs of playing only Cs Go for the next couple of years buying an older cpu like the i5 6600k is fine or ?
The problem with CSGO is that although even a potato (ex.: Ryzen 1400) can hit 300+fps average frame rate, even a 8700k overclocked to 5GHz will still have dips below 200fps despite averaging 800+fps... so your goal of 200fps minimum is simultaneously trivial yet unattainable depending on how flexible that 200fps minimum might be.

Also you got the 7700, which is 700MHz faster on 1 core and all cores (4.2GHz and 4Ghz respectively), and it should be a bit cheaper than the 7700K (which you really need to be carefull cause those OC CPU, never know how much stress they suffered by thier last owner).

What is IPC ?

But I think I will go with the i5 6600k
I don’t want to buy new mainboard and cpu for Cs Go

But will a overclocked i5 6600k get my fps Over 200 fps all the Time ?
Ah ok

But my main question is

For my needs
Playing Cs go with 200fps and above at all time
On all maps, even when maps like mirage get reworked ,
an I5 6600k overclocked will do the Job Or Not ?
Im just unsure if investing money in such an old cpu is ok or rather dumb
Can you guys give me security ?

Yes, i have a i5-6600k at (3.9), some maps might be significantly higher in FPS than other maps, but generally in competitive all maps should sit above 200 or near 300 FPS. You could invest in a i7 for future use and external games although the i5-6600k should be fine. Make sure your motherboard support +2133Mhz ram because i made that mistake once after buying 4x4 3000Mhz capped at 2133Mhz :)

Ok so you’re telling me that the i5 6600k is enough for my needs in Cs go ?

And it will make me happy for the next 2 years for just playing Cs go ?
With all the maps getting new grafical updates etc ........
