Hey ,
I currently run my pc with a i5 7400 and an Gtx 1050 ti and 2x8gb crucial ballistix Sport 3200mhz
Mainboard is the msi z270 Gaming pro Carbon
So I wanted to upgrade my cpu to an i5 8600k but it’s not compatible with my mainboard or is it ?
If not I thought at an i5 6600k.
The point is I don’t want to upgrade my mainboard but I guess I have to or ?
My point is I want to get better cpu and with that better performance in Cs Go by investing 200€
Absolut maximum would be around 300€

Should I buy the older i5 6600k or should I buy new mainbaord and cpu ?

And what about buying an used i5 6600k or even a i5 8600k from Ebay ? Is buying used cpu save ?

Pc is only used for Cs Go
Keep that in mind

Thanks for your suggestions in beyond

Personally a better GPU would be my move....1660 1660Ti. To move to a 8th gen CPU like the 8600K will require a move to a Z370 motherboard so more cost. If you can find a 7700K cheap second hand then that would make a difference over the 7400 and it would be a straight swap.

Failing that a complete motherboard, RAM and CPU will be required and you are looking at around $371 for a 3600, B450 motherboard and 16GB DDR4 RAM...Edit got rid of the 2600 option..

Ryzen 3600 option

buying new gpu will have zero impact on fps. cs go is heavily cpu bounded. for 300$ u can get i5 9400f (140$) and a b365 (around 100$).
i have i5 8400 which is a little bit weaker than 9400f and it gives me above 300 fps in cs go

Normally I’d agree for general gaming but CSGO is unusual. It is not very gpu demanding but people who want the best FPS need to go Intel and overclock. CS GO can only use 4 cores/threads so a 7700k would be ideal to handle background cpu requirements while pushing the FPS. More cores/threads won’t help.

This is exactly what I mean
But what’s a good price for an used i7 7700k ?
In case i dont buy a new one

And for me and my demands it’s not necessary to upgrade to an newer i5 or i7 8th or 9th generation ?

Around $320 used. Trouble is, just don't know how unlocked cpus are treated or how much life it's got left, especially if you intend to overclock.

438$ new, z370 + 8600k. Get a decent cooler and overclock to 5GHz. I think csgo would agree.

Apparently csgo doesn't agree with HT and favours high IPC/frequency. There isn't much different vs 9600k. I guess, look into which generally overclocks better and cooler.

Funny

The cpu costs 370 new so 320 is not a good used price

And 420 Euros is way to much for my budget right now

In fact I didn’t want to Roste you Boju

But for just playing Cs Go I don’t Need many cores. So 4 cores are enough
And for just Cs Go I don’t want to upgrade nearly my whole pc (mainbaord + cpu )

So maybe I raise more money to buy the 420€ configuration
But for my 200€ budget I either would buy a new i5 6600k or a used i7700k but what would you suggest

Im just curious if buying a used cpu is a good idea. Do I have to focus on something when buying a used cpu ?

But overall should I buy a used i7 7700k or a New i5 6600k ?

New 6600k, buying used unlocked CPUs is a gamble.

Csgo likes high frequency. 6600k can overclock very well and faster than your current cpu clock for clock. Partly the reason i suggested the 8600k, not because it's got two extra cores but 5GHz is a common overclock and has no HT. Csgo apparently performs better without Hyperthreading.

ok
So my goal in Cs Go is to never get under the 200 frames
So for this goal the i5 6600k should be enough
But if I want more performance I should go with a new mainboard and upgrade to an i5 8600k

Is what i said right ?

And what you said about Hyperthreading. I can deactivate Hyper threading for my i5 6600k in the bios

What is IPC ?

But I think I will go with the i5 6600k
I don’t want to buy new mainboard and cpu for Cs Go

But will a overclocked i5 6600k get my fps Over 200 fps all the Time ?

So ok to Bring this to an end :

So you guys say I should buy a new i5 6600k and not an used i7 7700k cause buying a used unlimited cpu is risky

And the i5 6600k especially overclocked will get my fps stable and always over 200 ?

But if I want to wait longer and get more performance I should upgrade mainbaord and cpu ?

And I think upgrading to an i5 8600k now is not good cause I heared of intel releasing new processors this year
Ist this Right ?

Aah ok
In fact I’m just unsure if it’s right to buy an older processor
But For Cs Go i don’t Need more than 4 Cores .....
So this is my dilemma
I think it’s just a bad taste to buy a old cpu

Ah ok

But my main question is

For my needs
Playing Cs go with 200fps and above at all time
On all maps, even when maps like mirage get reworked ,
an I5 6600k overclocked will do the Job Or Not ?
Im just unsure if investing money in such an old cpu is ok or rather dumb
Can you guys give me security ?
