Question New CPU Hard Crashing

Hello all

I installed a new Ryzen 7 3700x and its associated Wraith Prism cooler today, having updated the AB350 Gaming motherboard’s BIOS as required. Everything was working fine beforehand, but now the computer is hard crashing when I run games such as Battlefield 1. I’m not sure if it’s the PSU or something else. I’m 99% sure it’s not an overheating issue.

Hardware is as follows;
Ryzen 7 3700x CPU with Wraith Prism cooler.
Gigabyte AB350 Gaming motherboard.
GTX 1060 6GB GPU
Team T-Force Vulcan Z 8gb DDR4-3200 (x2) for RAM
Corsair VS 450 ATX for the PSU

I got this report from the reliability tracker;

Summary

Any pointers before I buy a new PSU (in case it’s something else)?

Thanks in advance :)

The PSU isn't a good one for sure, replace either way.

Could be temperatures, how hot is it getting under load?

If temps check out, then the power delivery on that board may be an issue. The PSU like I say should be replaced either way, it's a poor unit. But if that doesn't resolve the issue, it's possible that the weak VRM on the board is struggling with the 3700x, even though it's not a power hungry chip. It is an 8-core chip.

I'd troubleshoot in this order, temperatures, power supply, board.

Thanks for the advice, it’s much appreciated.

Temps seem to be completely fine, hovering around 71c as far as I can tell. I’ve ordered a new PSU (Corsairs CX750F) which should hopefully sort things out then. If that fails, I suppose a new mobo is in order. If I go that route, is there one you’d recommend for the Ryzen so I don’t risk the same issue?
