I am in the market to upgrade my cpu and am torn between AMD and Intel seeing as how AMD has beefed up their chips. My current build is as follows:

I5 4690k @ 4.6ghz
H100i liquid cooler
16gb ram
Gtx 1070
500gb SSD
1tb HDD

I play at 1440p and as of late, i feel like my cpu is starting to give out a little bit. This is especially true for cpu intense games such as hunt showdown (the main game I'm playing right now). I've been torn between the i7 8700k, the 2700x, and the 9th Gen i5/i7. However, I'm open to looking at other chips too.

Im not looking for a hard and fast answer, as I have been doing tons of research, only to be left hanging on the fence still. I want something that's good now and will be good 3-5 years down the road. I may overclock down the road, but would like to utilize stock speeds for a little while.

I would also like help pairing a good mobo and ram for the cpu, as I'm having a difficult time picking out a mobo for either builds I've attempted.

One main difference between the builds that I've seen is that AMD requires b die ram to run as well as possible which appears to run $50-100 more than what you can just throw into an Intel build.

Any input you guys have is greatly appreciated. If you need any additional information from me, please let me know. I do not plan on streaming or doing and media editing (though it may happen from time to time). I just want the best bang for my buck while shooting for performance.

The 2700x is 25% better than your current CPU. If you change from Intel to AMD, however, you will need to purchase a new B450 or AM4 board that supports Ryzen 1st and 2nd generations. The i7-8700k is 7% better than the 2700x, but i would recommend staying with AMD.
