I just bought a new cpu (Ryzen 5 5600x) because my old one (Ryzen 7 3700x) had some bent pins and was causing some FPS issues. Now my pc won’t boot. The fans are spinning fast, the RAM is lit up as is the GPU and the CPU fan is spinning, but the monitors aren’t getting any signal and the keyboard isn’t lighting up. I’ve tried:
  • reinstalling the old cpu
  • taking out the cmos battery and putting it back in
  • changing ram slots
  • starting up without the gpu installed and using integrated graphics
  • starting up without the cpu fan plugged in
  • unplugging and plugging back in
  • resetting bios with the power off and on 4 times trick
I’m lost now. And we are in lockdown so I can’t go out and get it fixed :(

SPECS:
Gigabyte x570 mobo
2070s
Ryzen 5 5600x or ryzen 7 3700x
16gb Corsair vengeance ram installed in slots 2 and 4 as per manual
750w psu

What motherboard?
Are you using the proper BIOS?
Sorry forgot to post specs - I’ll update it now. Gigabyte x570 mobo. And I’m not too familiar with bios. It was all working before I put in the new cpu, but now even the old one won’t work. I don’t know how to access bios if my monitor wont turn on.

Which Gigabyte X570?
If you need a newer BIOS than you were running.....that would explain it.
Gigabyte X570 Gaming X AM4 ATX Desktop Motherboard. How do I get a newer bios? And if I went from a ryzen 7 to ryzen 5, would that still make sense for a newer bios? Excuse my ignorance, I don’t know much at all about computers. I’ve only built one. Even with the old chip the ryzen 7, it still won’t boot again. Could the mobo be broken?
