Hi guys.

Recently purchased an i5 3570 to replace my aging i3 2100. However each time I turn the computer on it labours and then restarts, never actually turning on the screen. I've since put in the i3 and the problem continues, so now neither processor works. The Corsair VS650 PSU is brand new, and the 8gb vengance ram is relatively new also. The GPU is an R7 260x, less than 6 months old.
The only old component in the Gigabyte H61M-S2-3B mobo. Could this be an issue? Is this a normal issue? Thank you any help that can be offered.

Regards, fly.

Your board probably needs a BIOS update to run an Ivy Bridge CPU, so that's one possible problem, if you get the system running again, use CPU-Z to check your board's BIOS revision and make sure it is the same or higher than the version indicated on that board's CPU support list for the i5 3570. As for why it's not working now with the i3 2100, there's a couple of possibilities. A pin on the socket may have been bent when swapping the CPUs, or the new RAM you got is bad, you may want to try the sticks individually, or try the old RAM and see if it boots.
