I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 1600 to a 2700x and changed no other components. When I try to turn it on, I get lights and power to everything inside the case, but my peripherals have no power and my monitor has no signal. Keep in mind that this was an entirely functional computer before changing out the processor, so we can rule out that any of the other parts or monitor are busted. I suspect that this may be due to the fact that I didn’t update my BIOS and never have since its release, and this motherboard came out well-before the release of the second generation processors. If I am to do so, do I have no choice but to swap back to my old processor in order to get the BIOS to launch? Try to keep it simple for me :)
Specs: MSI B350M Gaming Pro, 2x8 DDR4 3000MHz RAM, GTX 1070, 1TB HDD, and some random Corsair case. My PSU is 650W, so I’m doubtful that’s the issue either.
