Recently the requirement list for RDR2 got announced, but my CPU and my RAM don't meet the recommended requirements.
What should I upgrade first?

My specs:

  • Intel i5 6400 -> 2,7 GHz - 3,3 GHz
  • Nvidia nvidia geforce gtx 1060 6Gb
  • 1 x 8 GB DDR4 2133 Mhz

Recommended specs RDR2

  • Intel Core i7-4770K 4-Core 3.5GHz
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb
  • 12 GB RAM
  • 150 GB Hard drive space

So what should I upgrade first?

1: A new motherboard and a new CPU
2: A new set of 2 x 8 GB DDR4 ram? So I have 16 Gb's of ram and dual channel

Solution
If you are upgrading for an upcoming game, you should invest in a CPU that will give you more longevity.

Ignore the warning, this...
Your least expensive upgrade would likely be to find a used 6700k and a pair of DDR4 2 x8GB 3000mhz sticks.

Your best option though, without spending more than necessary would be a bit more costly. How much do you think you can throw at this? If you get a new board and CPU you are still going to need to add a pair of sticks and get rid of that low speed stick you have or else the upgrade will be a waste of money because it's going to perform poorly due not only to the low speed stick, but also the lack of memory capacity and the lack of dual channel performance.

If you know you have to upgrade, you start with a mobo.
Be sure it can hold the CPU you want, and find the correct ram types as pr the mobo QVL.
Do not use ram not listed in the QVL

Ignore the warning, this motherboard will work with the Ryzen 5 3600 out of the box.

What is the model of your current case AND exact model, not watts, model, of your current power supply? These can be, and often are, important considerations when choosing other hardware because in some instances there may be compatibility, lack of sufficient quality or form factor requirements that necessitate the selection of certain hardware or the exclusion of some options.

Thanks for all of the replies, I wil wait until the game releases and then I will decide what I want to do. Probably buy a new mobo, 2x8 gb ram and a new amd cpu.
