New CPU upgrade

CPU: AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz
PSU: XFX PRO550W
RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M5A78L-M/USB3 (AM3R2)
Graphics: 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
Storage: 931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-9YN162 ATA Device (SATA)
OS: Win7 64bit

Taking into account my wattage and MOBO what CPU would you recommend me upgrading to?

Yes, the motherboard is AM3+... The FX-8350 or 8370 would be the tops for AMD AM3+ motherboards.

Wait upgrade my mobo? Well i have no plans to do so and if i did I'd look for a intel CPU....I'd rather stick with my current board as it gets the job done.

Why? If I did get another Mobo I would go Intel and bear in mind I'm not made of money. So I only see 2 options.
1. Get a new mobo that supports Intel CPU's
2. Get a new AMD CPU

990fx is better for overclocking. If you want to do that then i would recommending waiting and upgrading to a intel then.

Actually I was looking to OC my FX6100. As for the Mobo+CPU I'll wait to get a REALLY good Intel CPU and a new MOBO with it.

It would probably be best to either upgrade to a better performing cpu on the existing motherboard or go with intel for a new motherboard. Getting a new amd motherboard and/or 'new' amd cpu is still buying all new 2yr old tech.
