[SOLVED] New cpu upgrade

hi, so I have Pentium g870 and want to know if I can upgrade to a i3-2120. I know its the same socket but want to know if it will work. thanks

Motherboard? Some are locked down more than others

hi, thanks for the quick reply. its the q57 express chipset out of a HP 8200 Elite pc. I know hp boards can be quite locked down and im just bought it for cheap to try and create a sort of sleeper build thingy. just have not a lot of knowledge on cpus haha

Actually it seems that 2120 would be a stock configuration and the Pentium isn't oddly enough

the motherboard is also known as the Hewlett Packard 1495 . usually comes with the i5-2400 but bought this one with the G870. still has the i5 sticker on it.

No idea of the price of those chips where you are but a i5 2500 is like $25 here. If considering and upgrade that's the lowest I'd consider
