New CPU vs New GPU? (for my current setup)

I'm currently running a pretty decent setup, I feel like my CPU is my bottleneck, but I'm suspect as to how much if any of an improvement I will experience in gaming getting a new one, as most games don't have great multicore performance to begin with,I have an AM3+ socket, and the biggest fanciest CPU available for that socket type is the Vishera FX-8370, two extra cores at a higher bas clock I believe

I am running with

1x 780ti
Vishera FX-6350
8gb ram
1000Watt gold certified PSU
Windows 10 64 bit

trying to stay within a reasonable budget, So I could theoretically go with either a brand new gpu say a 1070, The New Cpu, Or I could go with another 780 ti and do an sli setup?

wich if any would be the best option for performance increase?

Jump to Intel build, or wait Zen and get it (DDR4). Except your'e playing @ 720p or lower resolutions, its the best and safe bet.

The 1070 is quite a step up form the 780Ti. Pretty much double the performance. Your CPU is fine, you could just overclock it if desired. The video card is where I would put my money.

Another nice upgrade depending on your current setup would be a GSync gaming monitor.

Well being budgeted right now Its not going to be a feasible option to do an entire intel rebuild

my monitor is 144hz, but I rarely play any games approaching that frame limit

I'm kind of hesitant though. would not 2x 780ti's, be competitive with a 1070?

SLI has it's downfalls, and not all games support crossfire. Also DX12 will be far superior on a 1070. The 1070 needs way less power supply as well and is cooler and more efficient saving on the power bill. GSync is not required if you have a 144Hz monitor. Past 100Hz GSync isn't really noticable or required. Some people don't like the supposed lag of Gsync either.

I love GSync. Having no tearing is nice and it has less input lag compared to VSync I don't even notice the lag. You can tweak the max FPS to eliminate any lag anyways.

I think you will notice a really good improvement. It can be better, but your CPU will bottleneck it.

The CPU bottleneck will be minimal. It's not like you have an old pentium 3. It's still a current 3.5GHz AMD...and you can overclock that to 4GHZ+.

And the bottleneck will only be for certain games. You'll notice a huge improvement in FPS in games. Practically double what you get now, which will take advantage of your 144Hz monitor. Then over time once you upgrade the rest of the system you're all set.

The alternative is to upgrade the computer. You'll have a faster system, and games will show no improvement. Maybe CPU intensive games like GTA V will improve a bit but no big deal.

So I would do it right and get a proper video card such as a GTX1070, then wait till you can upgrade the system properly with a Skylake or Zen setup with DDR4.

Last question, with the and CPU, would I be better off getting the and equivalent of the 1070?

There is no AMD equivalent to the 1070. AMD only has an equivalent to the NVidia 1060. AMD plan on releasing their high end video cards in 2017.

A GTX 1060 or AMD RX480 will play 1080p fine, but if you want to hit over 100FPS at ultra settings and take advantage of your 144Hz monitor the NVidia 1070 would do a better job. AMD has no equivalent to that yet.

Here's what I think. Get rid of the FX6350 immediately and go intel. The 780ti is still a very relevant GPU, even in most modern titles, as long as you're staying at 1080p. You'll get a sizeable framerate bump, as well as a far more stable framerates with an i5 6500 or 6600k or something of that nature, compared to the... thing... you're using now. Take it from someone who was also there once upon a time. Went from an FX8320 at 5.1ghz to an i5 4460, nearly doubled, if not tripled my framerates in every game I do play (mostly mmo's and planetside 2, really cpu-heavy stuff) and haven't looked back once.

Then once you have built back up another pool of a budget, you can get a GTX1070. Or by then, maybe there will be an RX490. Or a GTX1080ti. Who knows.
