New CPU won’t boot

I have this old Optiplex 745, with an unknown chipset from 2005-2006, and I got a new CPU for it. It was originally running a Pentium D 945 @3.4Ghz, but I replaced it with a better Core2 Quad q8200. Now all it does it sit there with the fan at full speed, not even outputting to a display. Could someone tell me about whether or not these two are compatible?

yes take any LGA 775 motherboard the cheapest one you can find that support quad core CPU

you can find CPU support list on the motherboard manufacture website of that particular board what you find
