[SOLVED] New CPU won't Boot

Hello,

I have an HP compaq dc5750 small form factor that came with Athlon 64 (Single Core).

I tried to install a Phenom X4 9150 but the computer won't boot although fan is working and the cpu gets very hot.
My Bios is v02.36 and i reset it by removing the CMOS battery and putting it back.
When i put the Athlon chip back computer works normally.

Any suggestion?

Phenom X4 family not supported on that PC model, only Athlon family according to this on HP Support:

Oh i see,
and will i get considerably better performance by upgrading from Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2Ghz to any Athlon 64 X2 dual core (5000+ or 6000+)

Unfortunately my CPU knowledge (at least where performance comparisons are concerned) does not extend that far. Hang fire and another helper may respond but if they don't I suggest you start a new thread to ask that question.
