New CPU won't fire up, please help!

Bought a new Pent D 930 3.00ghz CPU to put into my AS Rock 775 VM800 and nothing happened, it just continues to Beeb! The fan comes on but nothing else works. I put my old CPU back in and it fired up straight away. Can you tell me what's wrong? :?:

What type of old CPU do you have?

I'm willing to bet it's a power issue, as the P4 D series can consume alot of power.

SO, post your complete PC spec, and you'll get an answer more quickly. Also, note the beep sequence, and post that aswell... no, don't post beep, beeeeeeep, beep, beeeeeeeeeeeep. Post long vs short

Check your bios rev. If it's not P 1.30 or higher, it's time to flash.

Why did you buy the 930?

E6300 would be a lot better.

MB might not have supported the Core Duo - I assume.
