Thanks a bunch in advance.

So I am trying to decide on wether or not to build a desktop for myself or upgrade my current laptop. I don't travel to often but when I do I like to take the gaming peice with me. I usually only travel around major holidays and during the summer.

The current laptop I own is the ASUS ROG G75VW and if I were to upgrade my laptop I would get the ASUS ROG G750JS-DS71. The current laptop I have now runs perfectly fine and I don't really have any issues with it. I can run games suchs as BF4 on mostly high settings without any issues and still get a decent quality out of it while mainting a relativiley high frame rate. My concern is as new games come out I may loose performence to quality which is the reason I am looking to upgrade my laptop and still maintain gaming while I travel portion of it.

My other thought is that since I don't travel very often that I still want to have a relativley up to date machine and be able to sustain the performace to quality ratio. And by building a desktop I would still have a semi decent laptop to game on the go with. I primarly play games but I also stream videos and movies such as Netflix. Other than games or movies I run a moderate amount of basic applications. I don't do any video editing graphic design etc. If I do end of building a machine I will overclock it.

Since the laptop I would plan to purchase is aroung $1800 (+/-) that is probably my price range. Given that a I need a lot for a desktop including a monitor, keyobard and mouse if it goes a little over I would not be that upset.

The only other thing that I will need in addition to this stuff is the OS which will most likely be Window 8.1.

Sounds like you just wanna spend your money... :)

Personally my approach to the ever developing world of tech is to only buy when I actually need to - it's the surest way of getting the best value foe money. So I would stick with what you have until you find that the performance your getting in the games you wanna play is unsatisfactory

The spec you list is fine btw
