I've just recently come across Empire, and of course, I'm totally
confused. Well, not totally, but I certainly don't have much of a grasp as
to what's going on... (I at least know how to telegram the diety and post
in the newsgroup.) 😀

I'm wondering if there's an IRC channel somewhere or a way that I can leech
of the skillz of someone more experienced in real time instead of guessing
my way through the info sheets and FAQs, then hoping the diety replies to
my pleas for help sometime soon. If anyone knows of an IRC channel, or is
willing to help me out via AIM or MSN Messenger, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I've can learn quick enough that I won't be a frustration and live by the
words of The Art of War, so if anyone wants a future ally, or is
just plain helpful, reply here IM me on @ at EYESOFERU or on MSN @
Kingzemus@juno.com (you can e-mail me there too).

Thanks,
GNUb

If you're looking to learn fast, the best way to do so is in the blitzes
available at blitz.wolfpackempire.com (216.162.200.183) - the Changeling blitz
has 60 ETU updates every 10 minutes (port 6789), and the Zebra blitz has 48 ETU
updates every hour (port 5678). And of course take a look at
http://www.wolfpackempire.com/default.htm for lots of inforamtion.

Even if no one is involved in a blitz when you're on, you can still learn a lot
about rudiments of the game by playing by yourself - basic stuff like setting up
and maintaining an economy, exploring, assaulting other sectors, etc. If you
really want to play head to head, I can arrange (along with possibly some other
folks I know who play) to meet at some appointed time on one of the blitz
servers to give you a feel for the game. It will need to be later on in the
evenings EST (say, after 9:30pm).

?? It's 9.86. I don't think there's any rounding or truncation going on.
But you *do* need to exceed certain values of tech in order to be able to
build better planes, ships, units, etc.

and why can't my other normal cities have a pop of 9999 instead of 999?

BIG_CITY option is probably turned off on your game

Actually, BIG_CITY option is probably turned on in the game he is in. That is
why he is seeing sectors (caps only) with 9999 civs. But only caps at 100%
can have 9999 civ's. All other "work" sectors are limited to 999. Mountains
are limited to 99 and if the "~" sector is enabled (rarely?) that is 50 civs.
