i am getting rid of my old aiw 128 16mb and thinking of buying a new card to last me a while (2 yrs)

i am thinking of either 64Mb ASUS V7700 Ge-Force-II DDR or the matrox millennium G450

i heard that the matrox one has tv cap abilities with mjpeg, does the ge force? since i capture a lot i would like high quality, at least 720x576, but avi not mpeg-2 which is not good enough (in my opinion, i cap to huffyuv not mpeg2 which my aiw supports)

i saw two matrox cards and was wondering what the diff between the two were:

16Mb Matrox G400/TV Marvel Mjpeg Edit/Video Conference etc AGP 179.00 210.33

Martox G450 ETV Video capture system Retail Box Version 179.00 210.33

prices in £ UK

any suggestions on which one, matrox or asus, is better for my needs?

thanks.

but the radeon only does mpeg-2 encoding, which i can get with my aiw. the matrox's card has hardware mjpeg encoding which is much better, and i have like 200gb's of hard disk space so the extra space is no big deal. in fact, considering that mjpeg compresses better than huffyuv, i'll save some space over what i am doing now.

The Matrox is better equipped to handle video capture but it sucks for 3D games. The GeForce is great for games (and it has capture abilities - it's ok for TV time-shifting, etc. but that isn't it's forte). Take your pick. I own one of each and they both have their own jobs to do...

i want it for the capturing capabilities. as long as it can play quake 3 and vampires and deus ex i dont really care about the 3d stuff.
