Question New G3 Dell laptop.

My new laptop has 2 hard drives. One is an SSD, OS (C 34GB free of 103 GB. On is Data (D 931 GB free of 931 GB.
I am unable to find anywhere that Dell explains how this system words. I understood that the SSD drive started the computer
quickly and then ran off the other drive. That seems wrong. The computer seems to be using the SSD drive and not using the SATA
drive at all. How is this system supposed to work?

when you save you file, change to the data d drive
maybe even some app too, install to the data d drive
